Hope

God gives us hope. In the darkest night, His love shines bright.

God had His Words recorded as a gift to us and future generations.  Below are sound bites from sections of the Holy Bible that show God cares about us and wants to help us in our deepest needs.

Abortion – God makes every baby, before they are born.  He endearingly plans their future.
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
   ~Psalm 139:13-16

Abuse – Jesus will avenge the abused
“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.”  ~Mark 9:42

Addiction – Turn to Jesus to set you free.
Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. ~John 8:34-36

We are enticed by the wrong way to meet our desires.
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. ~James 1:13-15

Flee death! Find satisfaction in God and His Ways.
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above. ~Proverbs 14:12 & 14

Afraid – Trust in God and find confidence by getting closer to Him.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. ~2 Timothy 1:7

I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. ~ Psalm 34:4

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.  ~Psalm 56:3

Anxiety – Seek to take care of God’s Kingdom, and God will take care of you.
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  ~Matthew 6:31-34

Bitter or Critical – Forgive others, because we want mercy, when God judges us.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”  ~Matthew 6:15

But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.  ~Romans 14:10

Death – We have hope, because Jesus came back to life.
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.  ~1 Thessalonians 4:13

Decisions – Pray and Trust God for Direction
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.  ~Proverbs 3:5-7

Depression – Patiently focus on God, and He will put joy in your heart.
I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.
He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.  ~Psalm 40:1-3

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.  ~Psalm 16:11

Gossip and Foul Language – Ask God to give you gracious and encouraging words.
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”  ~Matthew 12:36-37

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.  ~Ephesians 4:29

Greed – Envy and greed bring grief.  Be content and seek lasting treasure in heaven.
Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.  ~1 Timothy 6:6-10

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  ~Matthew 6:19-21

Laziness – Diligent work produces wealth.  Don’t reward laziness.
The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing;
But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.  ~Proverbs 13:4

For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.  ~2 Thessalonians 3:10

Stealing – Seek good work and to be a giver.  God will change your heart. (Also read “Greed” above.)
Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.  ~Ephesians 4:28

Suicide – Cry out to God and take shelter in Him.
Answer me speedily, O Lord; My spirit fails!
Do not hide Your face from me, Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.
Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; In You I take shelter.
Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God;  Your Spirit is good.  Lead me in the land of uprightness.  Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake!
For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.  ~Psalm 134-7-11

Temptation – Study God’s Word to recognize it and seek God’s escape from it.
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.  ~Psalm 119:9-11

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.  ~1 Corinthians 10:13

Unemployment – Jesus bought us out of slavery to sin, He will teach us to profit.
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.  ~Isaiah 48:17

Joy Comes in the Morning
Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.
For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.
~Psalm 30:4-5
